Monte Xanic Winery & Artio Restaurant
We have left Adobe Guadalupe and are heading to Monte Xanic Winery and Artio restaurant. Everything seems so close in the valley. Literally, it's 15 to 20 minutes to get to the most locations. Our first stop this morning is Monte Xanic Winery. I couldn't be more excited. I have had their wines in New York on several occasions. And on our last trip to Valle de Guadalupe, we didn't have time to visit them. We were not gonna make that mistake this time. Monte Xanic Winery was one of the first wineries to elevate the quality here in the Valle de Guadalupe. In the late 80s, they started this mission of producing higher quality wine here. They are known for putting Mexican wines on the map. The winery is perched up on the mountain so it overlooks the valley. The building is impressive and the views are breathtaking. The winery overlooks their signature restaurant Artio. We opted to sit outside to do our tasting. Now I already had my favorites before we got here. But I soon learned that every wine I tasted from them was impressive. I actually ordered more wine for my restaurant in NY as I was tasting them in Mexico. My personal favorites are the Rose, Syrah, and Sauvignon Blanc. And I actually stock all three of those at my restaurant in NY, Aroma Thyme Bistro. Monte Xanic Winery is a must stop while you are in the Valle de Guadalupe touring wineries. Next up is a short walk through the parking lot to Artio restaurant. The whole restaurant is outdoors here. We sat on the deck over their lake. It's great to see water here. Remember it's a desert here. We asked the waiter for recommendations and he ordered for us! We started off with Shucked Oysters and a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc. The Octopus with Black Rice was amazing. The Octopus was cooked perfectly! The Pork Tacos, Scallop, and Shrimp Ceviche. We can't wait to come back here. After lunch, we head 15 minutes down the valley to Vinos Melchum for more wine!
