Wine Tasting at Henri Lurton
After an amazing breakfast at La Cucina de Esthela, we head over to a French-inspired winery. But just not any French-inspired winery. This is the Lurton family from Bordeaux France. This is our second trip to this winery. There is no official tasting room or sign on the road. So you would drive right by it. But that's what makes this winery so special. It's tucked on the backside of Casa Magoni's wine warehouse. Henri Lurton sent his two sons with winemaker Lulu to open this winery in 2017. They make my favorite Chenin Blanc in the valley. But all of their wines are superb. We sat with Nicolas Lurton for almost 2 hours and tasted and talked in-depth about wine and culture. The room that we are tasting in has a direct view to the fermentation tanks. Since this is not an official tasting room we are here all by ourselves uninterrupted. Their reserve Nebbiolo is only available in magnums. Nicolas explained to us that magnums are the best size of bottle to age wine in. And this Nebbiolo is a showstopper. If it's not open when you're there definitely buy a bottle and take it back with you.
