Ensenada La Guerrerense
Day six starts off with a walk and run on the shore right outside our hotel, Torre Lucerna Hotel Ensenada. Our walk includes Hotel Coral Y Marina just south of us. We have a strict schedule to follow this morning. We are having an early lunch at Le Guerrenese. This is Mexico's best ceviche spot. Seafood "La Guerrerense" was founded in 1960 and is still an iconic seafood spot. Chef Rick Bayless and Anthony Bourdain have done episodes here. There is the main restaurant and their food truck on opposite corners in downtown Ensenada. Tony, our driver, drops us off with some advice on what to eat. Being that Jim and I are both chefs we basically order one of everything. Including cocktails LOL! This was my second visit here and the waiter recognized me from two months prior. The salsas here are all hot so I require another Mezcal cocktail! My favorite here is the Octopus and my least favorite is the Clam. I just don't, I'm used to this type of Clam. It's the biggest clam I've ever seen. There is more than seafood here. Don't think your only option is “raw” seafood”. There are other options. We ate a lot and stayed too long. We now have what should be an hour's drive South to Santo Tomas Winery. After Santo Tomas, we are heading to see our friend Jaime Palafox at Palafox Winery.
