Day 3 ~ Monday, October 2
Tuesday morning brings us to La Cocina Dona Esthela for breakfast. This is Mexico's number one breakfast spot. It's an experience that you can't miss when visiting the valley. They are famous for their Lamb Burritos and Corn Cakes with Honey Ricotta and berries.
After breakfast, we head down the block for our first winery of the day. DuoMa which is run by a young local couple. And they are making their mark in the valley.
Now we are off to Vena Cava. This winery specializes in natural and organic wines. But before we head into the caves we will grab a bite at their food truck. Vena Cava uses upside-down boat bottoms for roofs of the winery. The winery is all underground. This was a recent discovery for us on our last trip down. And they will always be included on our tours.
For dinner, we head off to Deckman's. This restaurant always ranks in the top among all of Central America. Here we will watch the sunset on the vineyard and mountain range. You can wander over to the outdoor kitchen and watch your food being cooked or wander around the garden.

Day 5 ~ Wednesday, October 4
Breakfast at Maglen Wine Resort
This is an exciting day. We are visiting three amazing wineries on one road. Literally, they are several hundred feet apart from each other. Our first stop is Bodegas Henri Lurton. These are two French brothers from Bordeaux that have come to make their mark in Mexico. They do not have a traditional tasting room. But we are always welcome there. And they are making some of our favorite wines of the valley.
Winery number two it's just a stone's throw away. Here we will meet Ben Benoit, from Clos Benoit. Ben is originally from California and came down here to retire. He is now making some amazing rhone style wines, specifically Châteauneuf du Pape. There is no traditional tasting room here either. We will most likely be outside next to the pool. Ben grows all of his grapes on his 3 acre property that is shared with chickens and a large garden. He sells a lot of his eggs to Deckman's, the restaurant we ate at on Tuesday night.
Next we are off to Casa Magoni. Magoni came to Mexico from Piedmont Italy in the 60s to start making wine. He is called the godfather of wine in this valley. He spent most of his career making wine at LA Cetto. His winery is his retirement gig. He also is known to grow the most grape varieties than anybody else. His last count was 114 different grape varieties. The valley is known to grow 140. Here we will grab a seat under the oak tree for our tasting.
And after dinner we go to Finca Altozano. Another award winning restaurant with stunning views.
